october so far...

october is killing it. the weather has been beautiful, our flannel sheets are officially on for the next couple months, and brooklyn has been drinking her weight in hot chocolate. we love the leaves, and playing in them with friends. it's flying by and we're trying to enjoy every second!

this is the first year that brooklyn has really gotten excited about pulling out all of our halloween books. she wants to read them all, multiple times. her favorite being the skeleton meets the mummy.

and if you can handle kids' halloween songs in the car, i totally recommend this. i recommended it a year or so ago, and i still stand by it. brooklyn loves it. there are fifty tracks so you don't hear the songs repeated too often.

some other halloween books we have been reading...

we also pulled out the fall/autumn books.

i've been burning candles not stop the past few weeks. i love them all and couldn't choose a favorite with a gun to my head. they all smell delicious and make me want to stop time forever. not to mention that kendall is so adorably fat right now that time could stand still and i'd be content. i want her to just get more and more chubby!

(she wears this outfit once a week. getting good use out of it.)

we love when family remember that we live in davis county when they're in the area. the cute lynch/reynolds family came to kaysville for a soccer game and let us know so that we could see each other. it was so fun to get to chat and swap babes for a little while.

october is going to be over before we know it, but we could definitely say we squeezed every last good drop out of it. we're looking forward to halloween and dressing the girls up, and going trick-or-treating. after that, the countdown to thanksgiving in hawaii is on.

that's all i wanna do these days...

i want to read and relax. i spent several weeks doing lots of 'projects' around my house, and even though i have a few left to do... i just wannnna be lazy, relax, and read a book.

i have been doing just that. even last week when i was prepping my house for our bbq, i was taking small little slices of time and reading. i read two books last week. each of those books was over 500 pages and boy did it feel good. these books were enchanting and weird and lovely and so hard to put down. but i love using a good book as motivation to shtuff done. it works so well for me. that book reading reward system.

i spent most of saturday reading as well. i finished book number three tonight (monday) and i am itching to get my hands on another one. all of these books are by the same author. my SIL told me back in january to get my name on the hold list for a book called the secret keeper. i obliged and got on that dang list. i was number two hundred and something. here we are, in late april, and today i reached number one. numero uno. that book should be waiting for me with open arms tomorrow morning. as hard as it's been to wait and be patient for that book... i am ever so glad that i had to wait. it made me read these other books. boy have they been entertaining!

i love falling in love with an author's style of writing and being able to look forward to getting my hands on their next book. i 've done this with josi kilpack, sarah addison allen, elizabeth musser, betty smith, and now kate morton. these authors are all totally and completely different but i love their stories and writing style. and speaking of sarah addison allen, my SIL, who has also read her books, informed me that a movie might be in the workings for one of her books. i would just love that! i really would. after i read all of these awesome books, tell me you do it too, i think, MAAAAN that would be a dang good movie!

i'll be on a few long flights at the end of may and spending some much needed time at the beach and i am really wanting to take a good book with me. i am taking suggestions! send them my way. all of them. cause even if i can't get my hands on them for that trip, i have a whole summer of hammock-chillin/poolside hangin to read some good books. so let's hear it!

(and while you're thinking... some random pics from our weekend and monday.)

Rainy day...

We had the rainy blues yesterday. What better way to cheer us up than a trip to the book store a.k.a. Barnes & Noble. Brooklyn wanted to see every corner of that place. She was hyper and giddy, just like her mama when she walks into a book store.

Book Review

So I finished Pumpkin Roll like 3 days after I started it. I couldn't put it down! It was so good, and scary! Not kidding. There were times that my eyes would start to water, I'd squeal, and shut the book. It made me afraid to get up with Brooklyn during the night all by myself.

But...

it totally got me in the fall/Halloween mood!

The recipes sounded delicious, once again, and I can't wait to try them.

I love Josi Kilpack's writing style. This series just gets better and better. The best news is that there's another one coming out in the sping, Banana Split!

I totally recommend this book, and the whole dang series! If ya wanna keep up you better start now so you can be caught up by the spring.

I can't wait!

p.s. Brooklyn's going to be a vampire for Halloween...her 'vampire' teeth are coming in. No joke! We'll see how long they take to actually come in. Poor baby.

Can't hardly

W A I T !

I got an email this week from one of my favorite authors, Josi Kilpack.

The email had exciting news:

her new book, Pumpkin Roll, is coming out on

September 7th!!!

Holy cow, I'm on the countdown now!

I'm not the only one counting down in the Ruesch household.

Against my husband's wishes, I made him a paper chain countdown to the first BYU football game of the season.

He said it would make it feel MUCH longer if I did.

I did it anyway, and he appreciates it. :) He thinks it's fun to take one off every day.

(I must love him. I used my cute scrapbook/card paper.)

The countdown also stands as a countdown for his dad's long awaited arrival home.

We love F A L L/football season in our home and as the summer winds down, we are sad, but we have so much to look forward to!

BONUS: I can't wait to try this lip gloss...if only I could choose which color...

White

Lately...

I have been loving all things w h i t e .

I have always loved white things, but recently I have been a little obsessed and notice every little white thing out there!

Here are a few white things that I love:
(how many times have I used the word white in this post?)

(this screams summer to me)

(I wonder what I could put in all of those drawers...)

(lovely)

(dream collection)

(never with kids in my house)

(gorgeous!)

Today I got an email from the author Josi Kilpack...

(I loved this book!)

Her new book, Pumpkin Roll, is coming out in the fall AND I am so excited! She also talked about her next book that she's working on, Banana Split. Two new culinary mysteries??? I can hardly wait!

* Today, all 48 of my Kindergarteners are coming for the afternoon session to participate in Leadership Day. Please pray for me.

Hunger-y

So, here I am talking about food again...

But there's something really cool going on at the Chick-Fil-A in Jordan Landing...

Free breakfast this week from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
Each day has a different item, today: sausage biscuit! yum!
Just a little FYI!

So I finished the Hunger Games series, and oh my goodness, I wish they weren't over!
I really thought they were great books. Now i'm excited for the movie to come out!
If you haven't read them then you really should think about it.

Here are the 3 leads for the movie:

and I am T E A M  P E E T A all the way! I liked him the best since the first book. However, there are lots of twists and turns. :)

WYO

Today, I get to see lots of people I love. Tomorrow, I get to see even M O R E people I love.

It's grandma's funeral tomorrow. Viewing tonight and then again in the morning. It will definitely be a great celebration and tribute of her life.

Where will we be heading for these festivities?...

Here, in the wonderful land of Cokeville, Wyoming:

So many people that I love either live here or grew up here. It has lots of memories, mostly from my childhood. And because I will not be spending the one weekend there that I've spent there every other year of my life, this will have to make up for it. That weekend is the 24th of July Celebration and since the baby is due right around there, it'll have to wait until next year to see the Ruesch family.

I remember being buckled up in the back of the van, no older than six, driving down Mt. Fuel lane, and being so excited to get to Cokeville (only 25 minutes away) that I got tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. I couldn't hardly stand it! I couldn't wait to see grandmas, grandpas, cousins, aunts and uncles. I don't quite get tears in my eyes these days, but I wouldn't say I love it any less.

I can't wait!

H A P P Y  W E E K E N D !

p.s. I'm on the last book of the Hunger Games series. If you haven't read them, you should! I'm addicted!

The EVERYGIRL'S GUIDE...

I want to read this book:

(it's only $11 on Amazon)

I watched Maria Menounos on Rachael Ray today, and she had SO many good ideas and tips.

My favorite segment was on her 'car tricks'. She gave tips like: keep an extra camera in your car (even disposable) in the case of an accident (and you need to take pictures of the damage) and your cell phone is dead, keep a bag of work out clothes in the trunk so that you never have an excuse not to work out, an overnight bag ready with make-up, deoderant, toothbrush (I love this idea), and so many more! So many simple ideas that are B R I L L I A N T!

She is down to earth and professional. I really loved listening to everything she had to say. I've already checked the Salt Lake library web site and they don't have this fabulous book yet. I can't quite justify buying it because I usually don't re read books. I'm just gonna cross my fingers that the library picks up the pace and gets it in the next week or so. I can't wait!

(after a full meal of salmon and couscous!)

Bran - new

What did I do yesterday? Oh, lots of stuff.

Ate breakfast with my hubby

Went grocery shopping

Read a book that I've been meaning to for about a year now:

Read my scriptures (I am determined to finish the Book of Mormon before I go back to work)

Treated myself to a little Father of the Bride Part II

Scrubbed the toilet

Went to the library with my hubby. Got this. I'll be starting it today:

Got a pizza from Papa Murphy's (I love them)

Read my new magazines

That's pretty much it. Who knows what today will bring. Whatever it is, let it be great. I am thoroughly enjoying my time off. I can't help myself.
