cramming!

we crammed a lotta summer in this past week! let's see if i can remember it all!

monday...

that night after a little FHE, chelsea and i kissed our babies good night and headed to a late night showing of the new mama mia. we had the whole theater to ourselves, a big bucket of popcorn, and licorice. it was really the best!

tuesday...

james took tuesday off so that we could have one last full family day of summer before school starts. he took the girls to the last movie of the summer while i went to the gym and my first pta meeting. the movie was paddington 2 and apparently adi did really well. my mother in law went and i have a sneaking suspicion it was because of her!

then we were off to a day at lagoon-a-beach and lagoon. adi was asleep before we even started. so she napped while the big girls rode some rides.

then we hit up the water stuff. my girls loved it! they did the little slides over and over and james and i took turns going on the big slides with brooklyn.

we ended the trip with more rides. this time james and i took turns on the big rides with brooklyn while the little two did smaller rides. it was not busy and so nice to just hop on a bunch of rides. when everyone was exhausted we called it quits and headed for home. cafe rio for dinner and i'm pretty sure we were all in bed by 9!

maybe my favorite picture of the summer!

wednesday...

after tumbling, brooklyn, livi, and i headed for park city to do a little school clothes shopping. these two were so excited to shop together and loved getting to try on clothes and pose for me. it was too cute! they're growing up so fast!

but before we started, we fueled up with gas station treats.

the whole time we shopped they begged to go to claire's. i told them it would be our final stop of the trip but they still asked after we left every store. then when we finally got in there they were in heaven. brooklyn seriously couldn't even pick out earrings because she just couldn't take it all in. i remember feeling the same way!

that night, my sisters and i (plus chuck), and my parents worked in the lion's club booth at the little buckaroo rodeo. we did it last year, but had dev, so we missed him this year! it's a great way to spend time together and brush up on basic math! (wink face!)

thursday...

this was the day designated to getting some little projects done around the house. brooklyn cleaned and organized her room and it felt good to be productive. after dinner, james sent me on a target date alone, and he took the girls over to his parents' to watch a show.

friday...

after the gym, and a few more chores, we picked up a pizza and headed for the splash pad. it was such a hot day and it felt so good! i thought it would be more busy than it was and grateful that it wasn't. the girls had so much fun running around with a couple other girls and naming all of the different sections of splash pad. i heard names like: mermaid cove, the laughing stock, cartwheel pass, etc. they had a great time!

that night, we settled the girls down with a babysitter and headed out for a date night! we ate in-n-out and it totally hit the spot! then we opted for a night at lagoon. it's so fun to go ride all the big rides and chat with each other while we're in line. i finally got to ride wicked for the first time and then we called it a night. raced home, put our babies to bed, and watched a movie. it was such a nice relaxing way to end our night.

saturday...

we did yard work and a project inside and then took the girls to seven peaks. it's always nice having james go with us. he's way more fun than i am at water parks. they talked us into funnel fries and couldn't have been happier. we talked about how it would be one of our last times there this summer and it honestly made me so sad to think about how fast summer has gone! like where the heck did july even go?!

summer continues...

our weekend started on friday with some yard work and some delicious chocolate chip cookies from my friend who just decided i needed some. yes. she's awesome. i tried really hard not to eat them all right then and there because we had big plans to hit up summerfest here in bountiful and eat at the cupbop food truck. korean bbq people. i was excited!

we met up with jeremy & chels a few blocks from park where everything was and pushed strollers and walked over. i was starved! i couldn't wait to eat. so while chels and i waited for food, the boys took the girls over to watch some dancers on the stage. during our thirty minute wait... we were informed by cops that the winds were going to start gusting at 70 mph and that a huge storm was rolling in. and boy did it. within three minutes, it was raining HARD, thundering, lightening, hail, and WIND was pounding us. chels and i were next in line. i wasn't about to move. we lucked out and got our food for half off and pot stickers fo free! we ran the two blocks back to the car where our soaking husbands and girls were waiting for us. we were completely drenched. totally worth it!

saturday was a little less eventful. james went and played flag football and the girls helped me clean the house. we were hosting a bbq later that night. as soon as james got home and showered, i put keni down for a nap and went out to pick up last minute bbq-ing things. when i got home, james informed me that, "the big byu 50 box is on the B!" if you don't know what that is, look it up. so we literally jumped in the car and flew up the mountain. sadly, we had already been beat. but james was stoked to score a few free byu t shirts. one for brooklyn too. he was happy.

that night our good friends/past neighbors, the gasu's, and jeremy and chels all came over for the bbq. we ate, talked, laughed, the kids played, the adults played kanjam, and we ended the night with ice cream and fireworks. shh. it was so fun to spend the evening all together and i'm sad we didn't do it sooner! brooklyn misses living next door to shane and so when we see each other she is devastated when he has to leave.

sunday, i taught my sunday school class, keni made it all through sacrament meeting without having to be taken out (WAHOO!), and then i ended up just taking her home with twenty minutes left of church because she was fighting a nap so hard. she's also been weening the last few weeks so that makes it even harder. we relaxed the rest of the evening, took a drive up mueller park, and just enjoyed the heck out of just being together as just our little family.

we kept the weekend rolling into monday with tinfoil dinners and banana boats for fhe. it was awesome! try banana boats if you haven't! they're so good!

chels and i also showed up wearing the same shirt. great minds right?

we hit up seven peaks today as our usual tuesday outing and the weather was perfect. it made me sad thinking that we'll only get to go a few more times before summer is over. my girls love it. i love it. good memories have been there, and it'll always hold a special place in my summer loving heart.

also, drink of the summer... big al from swig. so good and refreshing!

the day before...

the 4th of july!!! otherwise known as, 4th of july eve.

we were busy bees as soon as our eyes opened and our feet hit the floor yesterday morning. flowers were watered, floors were cleaned, breakfast was had, dishes were done, banana bread (and mini muffins) was made, and i am telling you, by noon... we were pumped to get out of the house.

james had a meeting in the slc, so brooklyn and i tagged along for the drive, and got dropped off at seven peaks for a little sun/pool time. even though it was super hot, we had a blast and it felt really good after a dip in the pool/lazy river/wave pool. brooklyn just couldn't fit everything in that she wanted to.

we stayed hydrated and munched on almonds and crackers.

it was so fun being back there again. just the two of us. last summer brooklyn and i basically lived there. it was crazy to see how big a difference a year makes when it came to how we spent our time there. she definitely gets more out of it now. but oh how i wish she were just turning one again this summer.

before we knew it, james was picking us up and we were headed home. james worked on hanging our hammock and i worked on a painting project. brooklyn, well brooklyn got in her pool completely dressed. i think she was rebelling because her parents were both busy and weren't giving her our undivided attention. funny girl.

after the projects were put away for the night, we headed to the front yard to do some fireworks. brooklyn is loving the fact that she gets to do sparklers every night. she loves it. she's definitely got the arm circle motion down, oh and she does squats as she does the arm cirlces. can ya picture it? it's pretty darn cute.

tonight we're headed to spend time at the holmes household. we can't wait for s'mores and just good ol fashioned family time.
