little cinderella.

one of my sisters asked me why i hadn't blogged about my mom taking us to see the new cinderella movie. i replied with, i already did, you must have missed the post. so i went back to find it and low and behold she was right. who knows how i missed that!

anyway, here it is...

brooklyn is a movie lover. she gets it from her dad. and the new cinderella movie was no exception. she was anticipating it for two weeks. i showed her the trailers over and over again, told her that grandma was coming with us, and that she could eat as much popcorn as she wanted. she couldn't wait.

we found a cute sunday dress at tjmaxx that looked cinderella-esque so we bought it and saved it to wear to the movie. she was so excited and decided to wear her tiara just to complete the ensemble.

we hunkered down with lots of treats and dc and held our breath that kendall would be good. the frozen short at the beginning kept both their attention. brooklyn loved it and has asked since when we can watch it again. it really was so cute.

i loved the movie. i'm obsessed with it. i loved the original version as a little girl and this one just took it up a notch for me. the whole thing was good! it was so refreshing to leave a movie with a positive feeling too. the message was clear and speaks to women and girls of all ages. and honestly here, men and boys could be included. have courage and be kind. i love it. we have a similar saying hanging above our front door that says be happy. be kind. being kind is something that i've always known i wanted to instill in my own children, and this movie is a great reminder of it.

kendall made it until the ball scene and then she wanted to crawl up and down the stairs. luckily our theatre was pretty empty so my mom and i took turns with her. brooklyn's eyes stayed glued to the screen. i don't think she missed a second. it made me so happy to see her love a movie like that so much.

i wanted brooklyn to have something to remind her of that special message and special time with her grandma, so i had this cute print printed off to hang in her room. just waiting for a frame.

if you haven't seen it. go! it really is so good. we will probably buy it and it can tide us over until the next disney princess movie, beauty and the beast!

april showers.

first, a picture from our downtown slc visit on saturday.

i just love these two, and that big beautiful structure in the background.

auntie hay stayed with us sunday night. we were so lucky to have her for a whopping 16 hours. we'll take what we can get. brooklyn was so excited to wake up and have her aunt there. even when she made her hold still so she could do her hair. so cute.

we got even more lucky as the day went on, to meet james for lunch at costco (haven't tried it? do it. get the cheese pizza.). it worked out that my parents were in the neighborhood and able to meet us and have lunch as well. it was a big family party full of pizza and churros.

we said our goodbyes, and brooklyn and i rushed home to get out of the thunderstorm and into our cozies to watch a movie (and finish laundry). the rain storm was a perfect way to usher april in. we are grateful for the rain to help make our grass green. so bring on the rain.

our evening consisted of an egg hunt, another quick visit from my parents and haley, clam chowder, and a run to lowe's. nice and easy.

for fhe we watched bambi II. cutest movie ever. i owe you big time, emilee, for introducing me to it. seriously, if you haven't seen this, and you have kids, get it. cutest sequel ever. better than the first even.

Here's to

lots of naps this weekend

and more awesome movies like this one!

I loved it! Thanks Mom, Whit, and Googs for coming down to see it with us and for taking care of Brooklyn! She loved it! Googs and Whit had both seen it (Googs twice!) so they were willing to take care of Brooklyn if she got fussy during the movie. I was a little apprehensive but Brooklyn was good and Googs only had to take her out at the very end. Phew! I fed her during the previews, shared a Coke with James, and kicked back. Fun night!

(she did do 3 nice loud burps just to make sure we knew she was there!)

(we missed ya in the pic Mom)

The Borrowers

Saturday night, James and I were happily suprised to find out that my family was coming to Salt Lake to go a to a movie. A movie? The Holmes family? Wow. That does not happen...EVER. I can count on one hand the number of movies that we've gone to together as a family. It's just never been one of our activities to do together.

So after finally finding a theatre that had the movie my mom desperately wanted to see, we settled into our seats at the most expensive theater in the Salt Lake valley. No joke.

James and I got a large drink - $4.75
My parents bought a popcorn and 2 drinks - $16
Whit and Chandler bought a drink and a popcorn - $12

Something Borrowed was the movie. I give it 3 stars, mainly for the funny parts. I sat next to Kayla, and that girl can laugh. Very enjoyable.

Afterwards, we went to dinner at Winger's (yes, more popcorn...gag). We were all so tired that anything and everything was funny. Overall, a good family night. It's fun to be able to go out and do stuff like that every once in awhile with my family. Mix it up a little. I definitely couldn't handle it all the time. Too much adventure. :)

(I see you Wer)

(yes, I only wear dresses to work now...my pants don't fit are un-comfy)

Sweet: Dr appt today!
Sour: I have to get my finger pricked
