Rosie's Blessing Day...

rosie mae -

you sure look grumpy in this first picture but you were nothing but an angel on your blessing day. your dad took your big sisters to the church to save seats and left you and me home to finish getting ready. i loved having a few minutes alone with you to dress you, take pictures of you, and talk to you. you are such a special girl rosie mae!

your daddy gave you a beautiful blessing, honestly beautiful, and you didn't make a peep. you got passed around during the meeting, up and down the bench, and you were such a good girl.

we did your luncheon at nana and papa's with all your cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, great-grandparents, and your great aunt barbara. it was such a special day!

you come from such good people. always make good choices so that they will continue to be proud of you.

that whole day was surreal. i waited for you for what felt like forever, and to finally be at your blessing day was surreal. you are loved beyond measure and will never lack in support. your big sisters are still over the moon with you and think you are the best to thing to happen to them! i love you with everything in me rosie girl and i hope you can feel that as you grow up.

after your blessing...

we all got changed and headed up to grandma and grandpa's for our annual super bowl party. you got passed around once again and loved being held all day long!

i only have two pictures of that event and they are of food, not people. food is very important for the super bowl. you'll find that out next year.

the next day, you had your two month check up. darn those shots. they definitely break my heart more than than they do yours! you sweet little thing! getting some cute chub on you!

rosie mae

the day i had looked forward to (and been very anxious about) finally came. i really never thought it would come. james and i got up in dark of early morning and quietly got ready to head to the hospital. my parents and haley had spent the night so we knew our girls were in good hands. there had been a huge snow storm the night before so we were nervous about the roads being bad, but we lucked out and only had wet roads.

my heart rate and i'm sure my blood pressure soared as we stepped out of the elevator on the labor and delivery floor. i still couldn't believe it was happening!

i met my nurses, changed into my gown and prepared for my least favorite part of the whole ordeal: iv, shave, and all the anticipation.

my anesthesiologist was so awesome and i was so grateful to have her that morning. she got me lots of warm blankets (the OR is freezing!), placed my spinal block with ease, and kept adjusting everything so that my nausea stayed in check. it really all went so smoothly.

before we knew it, we heard that tiny babe cry. my heart soared!

rosie mae ruesch made her entrance at 9:07 AM and she made sure everyone could hear her. her lungs were strong! oh that tiny little sweetie.

6 lbs 12 ozs
19.25 inches

and lots of little stork bites...just like her sisters.

james went with her while i got sown back together and then it was finally my turn to hold her. it felt like a dream. i couldn't even soak her all in, i just couldn't! i wanted to just squeeze her and kiss her and never put her down. i'll never forget that precious moment. she wanted to nurse immediately and she did it like a champ! bless her little heart.

her three big sisters could hardly stand the wait that morning and came darting into the room to meet their newest sister. luckily, i was very exhausted or i would have been sobbing. i managed my emotions and only let a few tears fall. watching the four of them together was a dream come true. brooklyn, kendall, and adalyn were on cloud 9 getting to hold that baby.

for months adi said that as soon as rosie was born, she was going to hold her and sing her a lullaby. and she did just that. she made up her own little lullaby and sang it so sweetly to her baby sister. i cried again. another surreal moment finally happening.

i made sure to bring the girls their christmas pillowcases to open at the hospital. tucked inside were their matching christmas jammies. all four of them, in matching jammies!

i kissed their little faces goodbye and started my long stay at the hospital.

we had a few visitors and james came to hang out with me during the day. i sent him home to sleep at night because one of us needed some good sleep before the baby came home!

i love having babies at LDS hospital because that means i get visits from aunt barb. it's always so fun to have her come hold the baby, tell us stories from when she was a l&d nurse there, and have her encourage me to rest and take care of myself. she always tells me that! it's great advice and i love her for it.

we finally got to go home after 3 nights in the hospital. boy were we ready!

we were greeted at home by my mom and the older girls, all so anxious to see the baby! my mom stayed another night to help out and i appreciated it so much. rosie's umbilical cord fell off in the hospital so we got to bathe her that first morning home. she loved it! and she didn't mind her fan club gawking at her the entire time.

oh how we've loved having this precious tiny newborn in our home all during the christmas season. she is such a little light and we all just love and adore her so much.

adi is loving being in the big sister club and asks to hold her no less than twenty times a day.

and kendall and brooklyn are such big helpers and are becoming expert big sisters this go round.

and here is our first official photo as a family of 6! this was taken at brooklyn's first holiday choir concert just a week after rosie was born.

we love you rosie girl! you were so worth the wait.
