cookies in paradise.

waking up to rain this morning (thursday)... amazing. someone knew that i needed a nice cozy day inside. not to mention, i did ask the clouds for route 44's of rain right? gosh it was perfect. it rained all morning and into the early afternoon. i showered and then got right back into comfy clothes. do you blame me? i was so ready for a day like today.

i also had a girls' night to look forward to. paradise bakery and my pen pal. does it get better than that? that place has THE best chocolate chip cookies. i'm also partial to their chicken walnut sandwich and their turkey cranberry sandwich. go try it. james took brooklyn to jeremy and chelsea's so that mindy and i could eat and chat the night away with no interruptions from babies. definitely a mommy night out. we enjoyed ourselves way too much and talked until they were ready to shut the place down. thanks again for hangin' mindy. we'll get together when you come back to the good ol U.S. of A.

brooklyn didn't have a second to miss her mom, ok, only for the ride from bountiful to kaysville. james said she screamed the whole way. darn it. but she was happily greeted by her aunt and uncle and two anxious puppies. i was the last thing from her mind. she got to take a walk around the neighborhood and get to know all the neighbors. she got to swing and hold bright colored balls. her kind of night i tell ya.

she was happy to see me upon my return. that always makes me feel good. but i'm glad she can handle being away from me for a couple of hours, happily. the same will probably happen this weekend as we spend it at spring haven. she'll have so much to do and so much to see, i bet i won't see her but every couple hours to nurse her and then send her on her merry way. that girl is a busy. she has an agenda. she wants to see and do everything. wears me right out. but i love that baby. that sweet baby of mine.

pen pals.

Meet Samuel. Samuel is my pen pal and friend's sweet little chubby baby. He is six days older than Brooklyn. They both rock the July birthday. I think that makes them kindred spirits. He also rocks some delicious thighs. Oh those thighs.

They enjoyed hanging out together. Even though it mostly consisted of poking each other, taking toys away from each other and being hidden under towels and blankets while their mommies nursed them. I'd say they had a pretty good day. Splashing in the water and spending all day with friends is super fun.

Mindy and I had a great time chatting the day away while we soaked up the sun. She lives in Canada and I was most curious about all things Canada. I really didn't know much about that country besides that it snows a lot. But now I know a few other things. We also discussed mommy-hood. The ups. The downs. Our favorites. Our not so favorites. We both share a passion for nursing our sweet babies, among other things. I felt like I hardly got enough time to chat it up with this friend of mine.

So Mindy, maybe we need to get together one more time before you fly away. Maybe without babes in tow.
