fall happenings...

we love fall! the leaves in all their glorious color, football, crisp air, and halloween right around the corner!

at the very beginning of october, we went in for a good ol round of family flu shots. we survived with no tears! thanks to james and his clever game of 'name the princess'.

we hit up our very favorite, black island farms!

it was freeeeezing!

after tumbling one day, i took the girls to the pumpkin patch near our home and let them play in the maze and pick a pumpkin to take home and paint.

the next week, we met up with my family at another pumpkin patch to hang with cousins and check out a million other pumpkins!

the girls spent a lot of their time after school raking leaves and jumping in the piles. they don't want their dad to rake them up and dispose of them, but i think they'll be just as excited when the snow comes...

fall break + the zoo

brooklyn had fall break last week and was not thrilled to wake up thursday and find out she didn't have school. that girl! but i told her that we were going to the zoo, her daddy included, and that helped. she loves when we do things altogether as a family. it was a great afternoon!

kendall scored her favorite animal on the carousel.

we loved riding the train, seeing the lions up super close, and looking at all the fun halloween decorations.

the next morning, while james worked from home, we got out of the house and went to story time at the library. we lucked out with the topic for the day being ghosts. right up kendall's alley! both the older girls loved it, and adalyn hated being stuck in the stroller. i made it up to her by letting her have a sucker that was part of the ghost craft for the day.

that night was the ward trunk-or-treat and a great pre-halloween run on the girls' costumes. they were so excited to wear them and find out they got to do a little trick-or-treating. there were soups and bread galore, but the girls were excited about the candy. we have a great ward and the turnout was impressive.

we spent the rest of the weekend getting our house back in order and then enjoying the most beautiful sunday.

we ended the weekend visiting james' grandma at a rehab center. she just had her second knee replacement. she was thrilled to see the girls and they loved getting to have one on one time with her.

we've gone to the zoo almost every week this month. my girls love it, i love that it wears them out, and the weather has been too good not to!

october has been so good to us, it's sad to see it go, but i can't help be so excited for thanksgiving and christmas!

ichabod + chocolate waffles 2016

over conference weekend and after kayla did our family pictures saturday evening (and after the priesthood session), i whipped up some chocolate waffes, topped them with ice cream, and we snuggled up to watch "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". or as we call it simply, ichabod. brooklyn was more anxious than ever for this tradition this year and kendall asked to watch ichabod fifty times the next day. we loved having kayla and judson with us for this tradition we love so much!

photo cred: kayla with her awesome camera! i should have stolen it to get a couple pics of her!

leaves.

if you're wondering what fall in bountiful is like, well, it's leafy. with lots of mature trees around, we're surrounded by leaves! it's a child's playground out there! multiple times this week, brooklyn has gone out and raked piles of leaves just so she could jump in them, make 'leaf angels', and throw them up in the air. and when she's done, she comes in for a nice cup of hot chocolate.

we've taken our halloween books down and replaced them with books about thanksgiving, and eating in general. we've also brought out all the wintry snowy books. i can honestly say, i love every single one of these books!

kendall loves getting to go outside and play in the leaves. she just kind of watches brooklyn and laughs. it's so cute.

these two have the best time together. as long as brooklyn isn't being too bossy and kendall is being patient, they get along just swimmingly.

they sure do love each other.
