those darn carts.

this post will be short and sweet. i'm exhausted and writing this after an ikea run with my partner in crime, chelsea. we fought traffic and those darned ikea carts (if you don't know what i'm talking about, go to an ikea right now and try pushing those carts quickly, with stuff in them, and taking corners as quickly as you can. do it) and i'm tired. wiped out. so... here's another sneak peek of a few things (as in 2) in my family room. also, brooklyn eating a cookie.

on our monday.

monday. our monday brought laundry, putting up a christmas tree, organizing paint in the garage, leftover turkey dinner, raking up and playing in leaves, and teaching brooklyn to stay away from the christmas tree. she is, however, allowed to touch the big snowman and giant santa. they are her best friends right now. she even had to wave to them and give them hugs good night. that girl.

the tree, did not get completely finished darn it. i ran out of juice and chose to fold laundry instead. plus, i think my MIL could do a phenomenal job. much better than me. having the tree all lit up and somewhat decorated gave me such that familiar exciting feeling for christmas. that warm and cozy feeling. oh gosh christmas, i just love ya!

brooklyn loves the leaves. dry or wet. no matter what her mommy says. she's just fine to get dirty. oh well. thank goodness for washing machines. whatever keeps her happy for thirty minutes. am i right?

remember, this tree is not all decked out yet. hopefully in the next couple of days it will be completed. tomorrow probably won't be that day. i'm heading over the mountain to get my hair done tomorrow. brooklyn will be in the care of her auntie googs. and we may or may not spend all day there. so, christmas tree, you're gonna have to wait.

White

Lately...

I have been loving all things w h i t e .

I have always loved white things, but recently I have been a little obsessed and notice every little white thing out there!

Here are a few white things that I love:
(how many times have I used the word white in this post?)

(this screams summer to me)

(I wonder what I could put in all of those drawers...)

(lovely)

(dream collection)

(never with kids in my house)

(gorgeous!)

Today I got an email from the author Josi Kilpack...

(I loved this book!)

Her new book, Pumpkin Roll, is coming out in the fall AND I am so excited! She also talked about her next book that she's working on, Banana Split. Two new culinary mysteries??? I can hardly wait!

* Today, all 48 of my Kindergarteners are coming for the afternoon session to participate in Leadership Day. Please pray for me.

Empty chairs

We have the cutest table and chairs.

Not 4 chairs, 3.

My sweet brother-in-law had a 'Goldilocks' experience with number 4.

Slowly, the other 3 chairs, are on their way to becoming the same.

So...

My mother-in-law, knowing about our problem, started looking around for new chairs for us.

She found these at her local DI.
We went to JoAnn's and picked out some fabric, and...

WA-LAH!!!
(there ARE 4 of them)

My mother-in-law did ALL the work. I just had to get them home.

I'm so lucky she is more than willing to do all kinds of projects for me, and she always does a great job!

Christmas Window

if you saw my house...

you might say Christmas came in and threw up all over it...

or like my mom kindly put it...

"it just looks like you have a lot of Christmas spirit!"

anyway, i love decorating this time of year, and i love both the banner in this pic and my cute 'Cookies for Santa' plate.

hopefully it (the plate) will make it through lots more Christmases so that i can actually have kids old enough to enjoy it.

Mouth watering...

ALMOST every week in the past month,

i have gone to one of my favorite stores E V E R!

it's a salt city candle company outlet store in layton.

there, i found a true love...

the german streusel cake candle.

how's this for a description?

Rich, buttery streusel tops hand-kneaded dough and fruit and cream cheese filling in a delicious dessert reminiscent of Old World Germany. The perfect way to remind you of times spent around the table with family, you can't help but smile when you smell the rich aroma of our German Streusel Cake scented candles. With a scent that can make you hungry just by smelling it, this candle is perfect for the kitchen or dining room. German Streusel scent notes feature: cinnamon, caramel, nuts, chocolate, spice and bread.

it's burning in not one

but TWO

places in my house right now.

Mmmm...

soooooo...

just in case you want to go get one of these scrumptious candles...

here is the INFO you need!

oh and did i mention that it was only $7.99?
