throwing a brand new baby into the mix made summer a little not so summer-like for brooklyn for a few weeks. darn it. but luckily, this past week, summer showed it's face again and she has been in heaven. i cleaned out her pool one day, filled it up, and she played in (and out of) it all day. into the evening even. i benefited from pool time with a foot soak + rub. very nice.
we're adjusting to life as a family of four pretty well for the most part. i'm still learning how to juggle a toddler and newborn, but it's getting better and we're starting to see a routine mold into our days. brooklyn has her nana here to play with her, feed her, play hide-and-seek with her, and take her on errand runs and thank goodness. she loves being able to get out of the house on a regular basis and it's nice to just have a little one on one time with kendall.
^^^james tackling bedtime with BOTH girls.^^^
brooklyn loves kendall with all her little heart. she's constantly kissing her, wanting to hold her, read to her. she just loves her! sometimes a little too much.
this past weekend brought brooklyn's almost favorite weekend of the year. the fair came to town and with it brought fireworks and brooklyn's dream come true, the carousel. we spent both friday and saturday evening there. friday she rode rides with her daddy while my MIL and i manned the baby and stroller. saturday night we had chelsea/ellie and kayla/judd there with us as well. the fireworks were awesome again and we went home totally satisfied with our fair-going nights.
in between all of the fair going, chelsea and i (plus the little girls) hit up the slc farmer's market. we scored our favorite lemonade and chelsea a big bag o'cherries. we hit up swig on the way home and then i dropped chelsea/ellie off at the farmington pool to join james, lisa, and brooklyn for a little swim sesh. kendall and i headed home to get out of the heat and take naps.
^^^she wanted her face painted so badly on friday night. we promised her she could on saturday. she chose a unicorn and cried when her daddy had to wipe it away.^^^
summer is treating us well. it really is. crossing a few things off our summer bucket list this weekend was definitely a highlight. this week is brooklyn's birthday week (I CAN'T BELIEVE she will be 3!), james has pioneer day off, and this weekend we head to cokeville for the big 24th celebration. we have a lot to look forward to and we're trying to soak it all in as much as we can.
