carving.

the most exciting thing we did this weekend as a family was carve pumpkins. i definitely love hate it. but this year i mostly loved it. brooklyn totally got into it and tried really hard to dig the gross stuff out of her pumpkin. she really wasn't too sure about it. it made both james and i giggle.

the weather was mostly warm with just a slight breeze. totally pumpkin carving weather. outdoor pumpkin carving weather anyway. i definitely prefer to do it outside. we have a system down and we don't get too messy.

brooklyn was excited all day to carve these pumpkins, even though she really had no clue what we were going to do. she ended up loving it. she wanted to help draw on her pumpkin and carve it. so... i let her go at it with a marker for a minute and then i carved and had her direct me. she supervised.

^not sure about the pumpkin guts. ha.

^the finished product. our happy little pumpkin family.

^our porch is ready for trick-or-treaters!

so, pumpkin carving was the best 'family' activity, but friday night, i had a fun girls' night out at a fabulous friday put on by my relief society. chelsea and ellie came with me and i loved it. we were looking forward to this again because last year was awesome. we weren't disappointed.

we were fed some delicious soups, salads, and homemade sheet cakes. i wanted to have like four pieces. i only ate two. don't judge.

i made this cute burlap banner...

and this fun huge-mongous ruler to keep all of our kids' measurements on over the years. such a good idea. i need to get on it and catch up on all of brooklyn's measurements.

this week brings some good halloween fun and we're looking forward to it. brooklyn CAN NOT wait to go trick-or-treating. we've been practicing. we'll see how it goes.
