halloween day started out nice and early and per usual... with the costume parade at the elementary school. brooklyn was a little more shy this year as none of us could pictures of her looking directly at us. hopefully that's not a sign that she's getting 'too cool' for her mom! she looked darling as a ballerina and way too grown up!
afterwards, james' parents' joined us for brunch at great harvest where we stuffed our faces full of fresh cinnamon bread, breakfast rolls, and pumpkin bread...and a little diet coke on the side.
then it was home to get the halloween chili into the crockpot. then we were off to pick up happy meals (as per tradition) for the girls, including one to drop off to brooklyn at school.
kendall had her halloween party at preschool and bless her teacher! she didn't have them wear costumes and they didn't have to bring treats. she took care of it all! while kendall was there, adi napped and i caught up on my tv shows! it was a nice little break in the craziness of the day.
when james got home, we joined the whole ruesch clan + some at my in laws' to have the chili, cornbread, soda, and root beer. the kids were mostly too excited about trick-or-treating to eat much. but on this night, we allow it!
the cousins!
after nana spoiled the girls with full size candy bars, we were off to meet up with friends for a fun night of trick-or-treating. we didn't do our usual route up in clinton with our buds the gasu's (so sad!) but we had a super fun night and the girls loved be able to run around and trick-or-treat with friends.
we stayed within our stake boundaries and found some awesome houses with all kinds of extra goodies like: hot cocoa, cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs, fires to warm ourselves by, a harry potter movie playing on the big screen...and more! it really was a very successful route we took, thanks to our friends, the moore's who were the experts of the night.
this gaggle of girls had the best time together! even adi stayed up with them and was included in all the fun!
after two hours, keni and adi were wiped right out! so we headed for home to put the girls to bed.
not to our surprise, the girls were giddy as they got ready for bed, talking about their favorite parts of the night. i love that they have each other for this! i'm all about them making good memories together. they decided that next year they want to be the sanderson sisters! we'll see if they remember that a year from now!
they dug into their candy the next day when brooklyn got home from school. it was cute to see them make little piles of each different candy, or like adi did, just eat it straight out of the bucket. james and i also enjoyed the bucketloads of candy the girls got. lots of good snickers and butterfingers for us!
until next year halloween...
